online booking faq

There will be some variability in the appointment types offered by each family physician. Some general appointments that might be available include:

Preventative Health Care Visit:

  • Formerly know as the "Annual Physical".
  • The focus of this visit is to ensure all preventative screening is up to date (including pap smear as applicable), check immunization status, and conduct an assessment of the general health of an individual to prevent disease.
  • DID YOU KNOW? An annual exam is no longer supported by the best medical evidence and can actually cause harm - see below for more details:

https://canadiantaskforce.ca/guidelines/periodic-preventive-health-visits/

PAP only:

  • Booked for just the pap smear exam; no comprehensive/preventative health assessment included. Best used for repeat pap smears for prior abnormal findings.

New Issues:

  • Booked as a 10 minute appointment to assess a single medical issue.

Multiple Issues:

  • Booked as 20 minute appointment.
  • Your physician may still put a time limit on the amount of issues covered, depending on the complexity of the issues.
  • Please provide your agenda early in the appointment (or in the appointment detail section when booking) to ensure issues can be effectively prioritized.

Follow-up Issue:

  • Intended to reassess a problem you have already discussed with your physician.
  • Please ensure all recommendations have been followed/implemented before following up.

We strongly recommend booking any new physical concerns as an in-person visit as an exam may be needed for most physical issues.

  • There are pre-set restrictions around online booking (including number of appointments available, the dates/times available, and the frequency you can book certain appointment types).
  • If you are unable to book a visit through the online booking portal, your requested appointment may not be available to be booked online due to one of these restrictions.
  • If you are unable to book your desired appointment online, please call our office to book.
  • Please DO NOT book an appointment type that is not relevant to your visit

  • Please call the office if you feel your issue requires a more time-sensitive or urgent appointment slot
  • The After Hours Clinic is also available for acute concerns located at 21 Surrey St Suite 108. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Weekend/Holidays 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • If you are having an emergency, please call 911,
