FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED AT NORFOLK FAMILY MEDICAL
While face coverings are no longer required in many environments, they are still mandatory in health care environments including Norfolk Family Medical. All staff, nurses, doctors and patients must wear one throughout their time in the clinic to protect our more vulnerable and high risk patients.
Virtual Visits vs In person visits. - We will continue to provide the option of inperson care, virtual (video) or phone call visits. We encourage our patients to consider a virtual visit when possible as it is easy to set up (requiring only an email and web browser on a computer/cell phone) with the video medium often facilitating better care.
We have been seeing patients in person throughout the pandemic and continue to do so. The choice of in-person over virtual is based on the nature of the problem (ie things needing physical exam or tests like a swab or urine sample) should be done in person. Follow-up of results or talk appointments are suited to virtual care. At times the process may involve a preliminary visit by phone or video and then a brief in-person visit to complete the assessment when needed.
Appointment Times - Due to the volume of phone calls and emails our staff are receiving, we ask that you do not call in if you have not been contacted by a practitioner for your scheduled phone or virtual visit appointment. Emergency situations continue to occur and practitioners may be running behind. When scheduling your appointment, please arrange to be available for an hour after your booked appointment time.
Nursing appointments - The nursing statiion continues to be open for certain services by appointment only.
Prescreening - If you have a fever, cough, headache, sore throat, loss of sense/smell or any cold & flu-like symptoms OR have had contact with or think you may have had contact with someone infected with COVID-19 please visit the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health page on COVID-19 HERE
OR call our office at 519-836-9440.
Prescription Refills - As per our office policy, requests for prescription renewals and form completions should account for a minimum processing time of 48h for renewals and 72h for forms. If you have submitted a form, our staff will contact you once the form is. Please avoid calling in for status inquiries.
Covid Assessment Center - YThe Covid Assessment Centre remains open to assess those with illness that could be covid, diagnose and treat things that are not (eg pneumonia and strep throat) . They will perform COVID testing when needed for diagnosis and help arrange COVID medications such as Paxlovid and antivirals for those that would benefit.
